Opis projektu badawczego:

Głównym celem naukowym tego projektu doktorskiego jest badanie stanów równowagi w dynamice topologicznej i teorii ergodycznej. Oczywiście miary maksymalnej entropii są traktowane jako stany równowagi dla stałych potencjałów. Chcemy udowodnić, że, z grubsza rzecz biorąc, w dużych rodzinach układów dynamicznych każdy wystarczająco regularny potencjał ("obserwabla") ma jedyny stan równowagi (niezmienniczą względem działania borelowską miarę probabilistyczną realizującą topologiczne ciśnienie danego potencjału). Co więcej, chcielibyśmy pokazać, że ten jedyny stan równowagi ma dobre własności statystyczne. Zbadamy również możliwe zastosowania tej teorii. Istnieje wiele konkretnych otwartych pytań motywowanych, pośrednio lub bezpośrednio, przez najnowszą literaturę i pasujących do naszego projektu.

Profil kandydata:

Osoba ubiegająca się o stanowisko powinna wykazywać silne zainteresowanie badaniami w zakresie teorii ergodycznej i dynamiki topologicznej. Powinna być wysoce zmotywowana do kontynuowania doktoratu na temat grantu i prowadzenia badań nad pytaniami zaproponowanymi w projekcie. Jego/jej osiągnięcia studenckie powinny wskazywać, że jest w stanie prowadzić badania matematyczne na najwyższym poziomie. Wcześniejsza znajomość problemów i technik związanych z niniejszym projektem nie jest konieczna, ale jest bardzo mile widziana. Podobnie jak udokumentowany dorobek publikacyjny. Niezbędna jest znajomość języka angielskiego co najmniej na poziomie B2.

Konkurs przeprowadzi komisja rekrutacyjna, a jego wyniki będą podstawą do przyjęcia wybranego kandydata.

Uwaga! Ze względu na uwarunkowania projektu Preludium Bis 4 nie jest wymagany dokument: opinia pracownika naukowego posiadającego tytuł naukowy lub stopień naukowy doktora habilitowanego o możliwości objęcia doktoranta opieką naukową w przypadku przyjęcia do Szkoły Doktorskiej. Rolę tę będzie pełnił Kierownik Projektu.

Dokumenty wymagane przy wpisie na Program Kształcenia Matematyka, w roku akademickim 2023/2024

Dla konkursów Preludium BIS 4 zasady rekrutacji oraz warunki przyznawania stypendium obejmują również kryteria wskazane w Załączniku nr 2 do Regulaminu przyznawania środków na realizację zadań finansowanych przez Narodowe Centrum Nauki w zakresie projektów badawczych, określonego Uchwałą Rady NCN nr 60/2022 z dnia 9 czerwca 2022 r. (pkt. 2.1.3). Do konkursu może zgłosić się wyłącznie osoba, która nie posiada stopnia doktora i nie jest uczestnikiem Szkoły Doktorskiej.

Dyplomy ukończenia studiów wyższych uzyskane za granicą powinny być:

1. opatrzone apostille, gdy kraj wydający dokument jest objęty Konwencją znoszącą wymóg legalizacji zagranicznych dokumentów urzędowych, sporządzoną w Hadze 5 października 1961 r. (Dz. U. z 2005 r. Nr 112, poz. 938) lub

2. poddane legalizacji, w pozostałych przypadkach.

W szczególnie uzasadnionych przypadkach na wniosek Kierownika grantu Dyrektor Szkoły Doktorskiej NŚiP może odstąpić od wymogu przedstawienia apostille lub poddania legalizacji dyplomów ukończenia studiów wyższych lub innych dokumentów.

Do każdego dokumentu wydanego w języku innym niż polski lub angielski kandydat jest zobowiązany załączyć poświadczone tłumaczenie na język polski lub angielski.

Zakwaterowanie:

Istnieje możliwość starania się o miejsce w Domu Doktoranta. O otrzymaniu miejsca decyduje dostępność wolnych miejsc i spełnienie warunków opisanych na stronie Towarzystwa Doktorantów.

WAŻNE:

Osoba przyjęta do szkoły doktorskiej rozpoczyna kształcenie i nabywa prawa doktoranta z chwilą złożenia ślubowania. Złożenie ślubowania dokonuje się poprzez złożenie osobistego podpisu pod treścią ślubowania w biurze Programu Kształcenia.

Ubezpieczenie:

W związku ze zmianą przepisów dot. ubezpieczenia zdrowotnego, od 1.10.2023 Szkoła Doktorska nie zgłasza doktorantów do ubezpieczenia zdrowotnego. Po tym dniu:

1. Obywatele Polski, Unii Europejskiej (UE) i Europejskiego Stowarzyszenia Wolnego Handlu (EFTA) oraz posiadający Kartę Polaka, do 26 r. ż. powinni być ubezpieczeni jako członkowie swoich rodzin, jeśli te posiadają ubezpieczenie na terenie UE/EFTA. Ubezpieczenie potwierdzają aktualną kartą EKUZ (Europejska Karta Ubezpieczenia Społecznego) wydaną w kraju zgłoszenia do ubezpieczenia. Po ukończeniu 26 r. ż. będą składać wnioski o objęcie ubezpieczeniem zdrowotnym na UJ.

2. Pozostali doktoranci muszą we własnym zakresie opłacać sobie dobrowolne ubezpieczenie zdrowotne w ZUS (na podstawie umowy zawartej w placówce NFZ) lub wykupić ubezpieczenie komercyjne o sumie gwarancyjnej nie mniejszej niż 30000 EUR. Mogą posiadać obydwa wymienione ubezpieczenia. Niewystarczające jest posiadanie wyłącznie pakietów (abonamentów) medycznych w prywatnych placówkach, ponieważ nie pokrywają one kosztów ewentualnej hospitalizacji.

Wording of the announcement

Pursuant to §7 (1) and (3) of Resolution No. 61/X/2022 of the Senate of the Jagiellonian University of 26 October 2022 on the terms and conditions for admission to the Doctoral School of Exact and Natural Sciences at the Jagiellonian University in the academic year 2023/2024, the Director of the Doctoral School of Exact and Natural Sciences announces a competition for one doctoral student at Mathematics programme.

The research and PhD scholarship will be financed by the NCN research project Preludium Bis 4, Intrinsic ergodicity and uniqueness of equilibrium states of dynamical systems led by Dominik Kwietniak (PI)

Description of the research project:

The main scientific goal of this PhD project is to study equilibrium states in topological dynamics and ergodic theory. Of course, measures of maximal entropy are treated as equilibrium states of constant potentials. We want to prove that, roughly speaking, in large families of dynamical systems, every sufficiently regular potential (observable) has a unique equilibrium state (action-invariant Borel probability measure realizing the topological pressure of the potential). Furthermore, we would like to show that this unique equilibrium state has good statistical properties. We will also explore possible applications of this theory. There are numerous concrete open questions motivated, implicitly or explicitly, by recent literature and fitting to our project.

Candidate profile:

The candidate should demonstrate a strong interest in research in ergodic theory and topological dynamics. He/She should be highly motivated to pursue PhD on the topic of the grant and conduct research on the questions proposed in the project. His/her student records should indicate that he/she is capable of doing mathematical research at a top-level. Prior knowledge of problems and techniques related to the present project is not necessary but is very welcome. Ditto a proven publication record.

Expected knowledge of English at least at B2 level

The competition will be conducted by the Admission Committee and the results will be the basis for the admission of the selected candidate.

Attention! Due to the conditions of the Preludium Bis 4 project, the following document is not required: an opinion of a research fellow holding a scientific title or the academic degree of doctor habilitated on the possibility of supervising the doctoral student in the event of admission to the Doctoral School. This role will be performed by the Project Manager.

For Preludium BIS 4 competitions, the recruitment rules and the conditions for granting the scholarship also include the criteria specified in Annex 2 to the Terms and Conditions of Awarding Funds for the Implementation of Tasks Funded by the National Science Centre under research projects, Resolution of the Council of the NCN no 60/2022 of 9 June 2022 (point 2.1.3). Entrants in the call may only be persons who have no doctoral degree and are not readers of a Doctoral School.

Higher education certificates obtained abroad should:

1. bear an Apostille when the country issuing the document is covered by the Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents, done at The Hague on 5 October 1961 (Journal of Laws of 2005, No. 112, item 938), or

2. by subject to legalisation, in other cases.

In particularly justified cases, at the request of the Grant Manager, the Director of the NŚiP Doctoral School may waive the requirement to provide apostille or to submit diplomas of higher education or other documents for legalisation.

Any document issued in a language other than Polish or English must be accompanied by a certified translation into Polish or English.

Accommodation:

It is possible to apply for a place in the Doctoral House. Receipt of a place is determined by the availability of vacant places and the fulfilment of the conditions described on the Doctoral Student Society website.

IMPORTANT:

A person admitted to a doctoral school commences education and acquires the rights of a doctoral student upon taking the oath. The taking of the oath is done by personally signing the oath in the office of the Mathematics Programme.

Health Insurance – important changes

As of 1.10, the rules for the registration of doctoral students for health insurance by the University are being changed. After this date:

1. Citizens of Poland, European Union [EU], European Free Trade Association [EFTA] and holders of the Pole's Card, up to the age of 26 should be insured as members of their families, if these have insurance in the EU/EFTA. The insurance is confirmed by a valid EHIC (European Health Insurance Card) card issued in the country of insurance application. Once they have reached the age of 26, they will apply for health insurance coverage at the Jagiellonian University.

2. Other doctoral students (from outside the EU, EFTA) have to pay for their own voluntary health insurance at the Social Security Health institution [ZUS] (on the basis of a contract concluded with the Polish National Health Fund [NFZ] facility) or take out a commercial insurance with a guarantee amount of no less than EUR 30000. They may have both of these insurances. It is insufficient to have only medical packages (subscriptions) in private facilities, as these do not cover the costs of possible hospitalisation. We recommend that each candidate, in particular a foreign candidate, takes out insurance for the duration of the journey and a minimum of the first month of stay in Poland (until the formalities have been completed upon arrival).
